Re: Citizens of Ukraine living in Odessa (4 y.o. and 16 y.o.) need urgent bone marrow transplantation
Date: 20 December, 2005
Knowing your Odessa (Ukraine) roots and constant charitable efforts – I thank you for all foreign children you donated money for medical treatment in the USA, I decided to contact you. I fully realise you receive millions of letters every day. But maybe you notice mine.
I am a volunteer of Odessa Charitable Foundation for Children with oncological diseases (in the Memory of Lenochka Yegoupova). We help to Oncological Haematology Ward of Odessa Regional Infant Clinical Hospital.
Our Foundation organises financial and moral support to the children that are being treated in the Ward and to their families. We hold childrens’ parties, purchase equipment for the Ward and arrange operations for our children, as they cannot be operated in Odessa.
1. A girl Maya Damaskin DOB 13.11.2001, diagnosed Neuroblastoma of retroperitoneal space
4th degree, with metastases, is presently being treated in the Ward.
The girl needs urgent operation of bone marrow transplantation, otherwise she is going to die. Her family is very poor and has become a complete broke as result of treatment process. The girl is the only child.
Our foundation has raised $6,300.00 and the girl was sent to St.-Petersburg, Russia, clinic. This money shall be enough for the trip and initial stay in the clinic. However, you probably know that bone marrow transplantation is one of the most expensive operations. So any further donation shall not only be appreciated, but may become the only option for the girl’s cure.
Please kindly see her mom’s letter attached.
2. A boy Kostya Pazinskiy is currently being treated in the ward. He is diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leucosis with Philadelphia chromosome. He is in need for urgent bone marrow transplantation. We are raising money for him and we had some success, but again it is not enough. He is in remission now, but his condition has started to fail, and the situation keeps worsening.
Please see his mom’s letter attached.
We are of complete understanding that your funds are limited and that it is totally impossible to help everybody who is in need.
Nevertheless, we kindly ask you to consider our pleas and assist us in all possible ways.
We shall highly appreciate any assistance from your side.
